Dragons and Roses...

    ...Gung hey fot choy!  As we wrapped up January, Chinese New Year ushered in the year of the dragon.  I am yet to go out for Chinese food in celebration of the new year.  Not too sure what the dragon has in store for this year, but I do know that I am starting to be newly renewed with creativity in my art endeavors.  We haven't had many snow days so far, but I have still had days that permitted uninterrupted time for art.  Attending a recent art reception helped to breathe new into my art mojo.  Exactly what I needed.  My fellow artisans also encouraged me in ways that freed me up unblock to creative flow again.  Thanks, I needed that!       Another area of joy for me was that of herbs.  Delightfully, I found that rose is the Herb of the Year selection by the National Herb Society.  Rose is my favorite scent.  I wear a toilette water that is rose scented, Tea Rose by Perfumer's Workshop....

Sacred Space and the Wooly Bear Caterpiller...

    ...Stepping into October, I have been outdoors as much as weather will permit.  This weekend has been absolutely gorgeous with cool temps and warm sun, breezy with lots of blue skies with playful clouds that provide plenty of room for the imagination to make fun creations from the fluffy forms.  I love Ohio in the fall.  How did I spend the weekend?  Art shows and outdoor festivals were my cup of tea.  To no avail I tried to get various friends to join me.  Don't they get it, it's time to play outside before the cold and wet and snows drive everyone inside for the winter.       I saw a wooly bear caterpillar in my garden by the walkway.  For those who know how to read their wooly bears, the body was tipped with black while the main center body was reddish brown.  So goes the 2012 winter prognostication!        My best reward of the day was when I noticed a little spot in my...

Grudgingly Spring...

   ...As another of Ohio's glorious grey days reminds us that, yes, it is spring, but yes, you are still in Ohio, and it is not snowing...at least for the moment.  It snowed yesterday, but we have been promised temperatures in the 70's. Really?  I will believe it when I feel it.  But somehow the plants outdoors haven't been fooled whether the weather is cold or warm.  They are on schedule with shy purple blossoms of hyacinths and crocus beginning to show their brave colors. My potted chive plants are undaunted as they flourish in whatever crazy spring weather we have.  I am eager to begin straightening up Le Petit Jardin.  That is what I intend to do during our "heat wave".  Occasionally there is a squirt of sunlight to encourage me to get on with garden prepping.  Here in Ohio we don't really get serious about planting until May. It could snow at any time and there is always the chance of a last frost up until Memorial day.   ...
